Design Case Study 6 - bold & beautiful

The Problem
The client already had some gorgeous modern furniture placed throughout and the house itself had some lovely 'bones', but the whole decor required sprucing up as it was white, cold and fairly unfriendly. The owner wanted something much bolder, warm and inviting, but she knew she wanted help in selecting the colors. To go from white to bold, can be a frightening leap.

The Solution
The dining room had some great features that we were able to use. The beautiful stained glass light was the inspiration for the burnt orange of the walls. By selecting this rich, deep color it quickly accented the furniture the client already had and created a warm and inviting space. By painting the alcove in a softer color, we allowed it to show off the clients collection of antique glass vases.

For the living room the accent was clearly the bachelder fireplace, so we selected a paint color that accentuates the colors in the fireplace. It also creates a great backdrop for the textures and rustic details of the client’s furniture.

The Results

  • By keeping our color palette in line with the beautiful fixtures, we were able to highlight items that were already in place that the client loved.
  • We were also able to create a great backdrop to show off some treasured items that the client owned, rather than simply replacing them or ignoring them.
  • The living room became a cozy, much loved location for the client where they are able to feel completely at home and enjoy the comfort of their own space.
